What's it like at OT?

I love a good social story - I wish we had more of them. Imagine starting somewhere new and they gave you an outline for exactly what to expect! Wouldn't that be just perfect?

Maybe it the 'tism in me talking - but that sounds great to me. I'd love to know where the toilet is, what they are expecting of me and why I am there. I have written a very broad one for OT at Soft Landings Family OT that I wanted to share with you today.

Because OT looks different for each child the social story I have created is pretty vague on some of the details, but don't worry - we can always write one tailored to your kiddo. I wanted this general copy to include the most important points for every session:

  1. Ellie is an OT

  2. Ellie wants to be part of their team

  3. THEY get to choose if Ellie is on their team

  4. Ellie's job is to listen to them, help others HEAR them and to create a safe place for them to learn

Despite all the differences between OT sessions, these things will stay the same for every child. So, enjoy the story below and I hope to see you at OT soon!
